Dear Colleagues,
Smith College and Williams College are hosting the twenty-first meeting of
theNortheast Consortium for Quantitative Literacy (NECQL)
<https://www.smith.edu/qlc/NECQLXXI.html> at Smith College in Northampton,
Massachusetts, and we ask you to save the dates March 24th and/or 25th in
order to attend!
NECQL is a forum for the discussion of issues and the dissemination of
information related to quantitative literacy.
· The program on Saturday will focus on bridging the experience gap. The
morning program includes presentations about how some institutions address
the experience gap that often presents as math or quantitative preparedness
issues and what some programs are doing to help students reach college
level readiness and acquire skills that allow them to engage in STEM+
college level courses. The afternoon program includes a guided workshop for
attendees to develop actionable items for themselves and their institutions.
· The program on Sunday will focus on Quantitative and Math Support
Centers (QMaSC). The topic is "What do our tutors need and how do we
provide it for them?" Tutor training activities and a discussion of a
professional organization are part of Sunday's agenda.
Faculty and administrators working in this area are invited to attend. This
year we are collecting a small registration fee, which includes lunch each
day.
We hope to see you in March!
Best regards,
Cat McCune (Smith) & Laura Muller (Williams)
