12.0pt'>The Humanitarian FOSS (H-FOSS) Project is pleased to announce the
availability of <strong><b><font face="Times New Roman">Ten (10)</font></b></strong>
undergraduate internships for the 2009 H-FOSS Summer Institute. The summer
interns will be part of a development team to <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>B</span></b>uild
free and <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>O</span></b>pen <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>S</span></b>ource <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>S</span></b>oftware
for use by humanitarian organizations.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The
H-FOSS Institute will be held at <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Trinity</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">College</st1:PlaceType> in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">Hartford</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">CT.</st1:State></st1:place>
The 10-week (May 18th to July 24th) Institute will engage students in a number
of local and international open source projects. The internships come with a <strong><b><font
face="Times New Roman">$4000</font></b></strong> stipend and include on-campus
housing for the duration. Institute participants will work with advisers from
the open source community, mentors from Accenture Corporation along side
faculty supervisors on projects ranging from Medial Records, Disaster
Management, Early Disease detection, literacy application management systems to
addressing accessibility issues. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>We seek
students with a strong interest in helping build software that benefits the
community while at the same time furthering their own computing skills.
Although there is no minimum requirement for an internship, an introductory
course in computer science plus a working knowledge of some programming
language is preferred.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
