Hi,
Is the db server hosted on your machine. If it's not then you need '-h
hostname' flag. If the DB server is on the local machine, is that the
username and password you setup. For most local configurations on the
users own computers, the user account has been root and the password
they set, which in most cases has been blank. It is generally not
recommended leaving the root account with blank password.
Hope this helps.
Trishan

Subject: [Sahana_proj] mysql question

while trying to use mysql on fedora core 6, I keep getting this error:

[gefed at localhost - /usr/bin ]$ mysql -ugefed -p
Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'gefed'@'localhost' (using
password: YES)
[gefed at localhost - /usr/bin ]$

For some reason it's not taking my user name and password. Is there
something I have to do with configuring the server (my localhost) to
recognize my user name?

-greg
