from out meeting today with the IS folks, we came up with this:

Connecticut College wishes to have an offsite emergency management page that does the following:

1) conveys pertinant information about the current situation
2) has a checkin system where one can check themselves in and say that they are searching for others

To accomplish this we will:

Use Sahana and Microsoft's Active Directory to create a list of everyone in the college community

PHP-LDAP will be used to pull down the username, first middle, and last names, as well as email addresses from Active Directory.

It will output into an RSS or Comma seperated file.

The next part of the module will import either an RSS file or Comma seperated file into the missing person's database. Each user will be able to go to the site and "check themselves in". The security will be the college "question and answer" security question.

A possible thought is to create a mass mailer to send out announcements, or possibly a mass smser to send out text messages to a group of cell phones at once.
